New and familiar faces gathered to form a large crowd at the 9th Annual New Dimension Braford Bull & Female sale at Bell Showgrounds on Saturday 31st August to see 18 Braford Bulls, 42 Registered and 6 Commercial Braford Females offered for sale. Long time supporter of the Braford breed Wayne Weller from Wooroolin opened the sale.
Braford Bulls sold for a Top Price of $7,500 – the bull Lot 1 Carinya O’Rourke was purchased by Tigrigie Cattle Co, Taroom. Carinya O’Rourke topped the scales at 925kg at 24 months with an EMA of 126 sq cm offered by John & Jackie Amor – “Carinya” stud at Dulacca.
Building on its reputation for being the Braford breeds largest multi vendor Female sale. Registered Braford Females sold for a Top Price of $3,500 – the heifer Lot 40 – 22 month old Banyula Trinket 1500 offered by Rhonda Ryan – “Banyula” stud at Emerald, was purchased by new Braford members the Hale Family, Wildash Braford Stud located at Murrays Bridge. The Hale family also purchased another Banyula female Lot 41 Banyula Vertigo.
The Top Price in the younger portion of the Registered Females section (under 12 months) of $ 2,500 was paid for Lot 45 Little Valley Lady Sue offered by the Bennett Family – “Little Valley” stud at Stratheden, and was purchased by Verykino Braford Stud, at Leeville.
6 quality Commercial Females were offered by Ray Kidd, “Cashmere” stud at St George and averaged $600, 3 of these heifers were purchased by Dan Galloway “Ascot” stud at Banana, followed by Ross & June Olsson of Kingaroy, and Janelle Hanlon of Pittsworth.
With Janelle Hanlon the winner of the $250 credit for females, and Kane Yorkston , Dalzeil Cattle Co , Taroom the winner of the $500 credit for bulls.
Volume buyer of the day was Varykino Braford Stud at Leeville, taking home 5 Braford Females for an average of $2,000.
