Alderside Brafords First Bull Sale

2021 saw us sell our first bull at the New Dimension Sale held at the Bell showgrounds. Our bull, Alderside JJ after a successful show career, headed to Bell for the annual sale hosted by the South Queensland Braford Promotion Group. With a strong market, we were excited to be invited to be a first time vendor at the sale. The New Dimension Sale is a favourite event of ours each year on the calendar and is a credit to the group that organise it. The volunteers that work tirelessly behind the scenes before the sale do an amazing job and the sale ran seamlessly. Our bull JJ hit the scales on Friday at 929kg and had IMF 5.5 and EMA of 134 making him one of the top scanning bulls at the sale.

Friday night, we had an entertaining evening, having dinner and a few beers with everyone, and enjoyed some live music and an auction to raise money. Everyone had a great night and set the feeling for an enjoyable day ahead.

Well the butterflies hit Saturday, as we put the finishing touches on our bull and made sure he was clean and ready for the sale ring. With the pre-sale breakfast and formalities done it was down to business with the crew from Elders looking after our Bull Sale.

After a quick but intense bidding session, we were over the moon to have Alderside JJ purchased by Andrew and Wendy Whittaker, from Warwick, where he will be used as a stud sire for $12,000. We also made a purchase with another quality Strathgyle heifer heading home to our stud.
