BRAFORDS TAKE SECOND PLACE AT NORMAN’S BEST BREED 2026

Braford beef has once again shown it can compete on the plate, taking out an impressive second place in the 2026 Norman’s Best Breed competition at Brisbane’s iconic Norman Hotel.

Held in conjunction with JBS Aussie Beef and as part of the EKKA celebrations, this year’s competition brought four breeds together on the grill; Belmont Red, Braford, Charolais and Brahman. Diners were given the opportunity to taste each breed side by side and judge them on flavour, tenderness and overall enjoyment.

Belmont Red took out the 2026 title, successfully defending their win from last year, with Braford coming in second, ahead of Charolais and Brahman.

It’s a fantastic result for Braford and another great opportunity to showcase what our cattle can deliver at the end of the production chain. We often talk about Brafords for their adaptability, performance and ability to handle Australian conditions, but ultimately, the beef has to perform on the plate too.

Having Braford beef judged by everyday diners alongside three other well-known beef breeds and finishing second is something the breed should be pretty proud of. It gives us another great example of the eating quality that can be achieved from Braford cattle and the work our breeders are putting into producing a quality end product.
